House move

Hi,

We are supposed to be moving in three weeks' time having sold our house and bought another.
Both property transactions are being dealt with by the same solicitor. Missives are not concluded on our sale so we haven't concluded on our purchase.

I wanted to ask if the timescales seem normal? My solicitor states she is waiting for a formal letter from the vendor following verbal acceptance of our offer 4 weeks ago. This seems very late to me and I'm increasingly concerned this is all going to fall through or we'll be out our house with nowhere to move into:

Does anyone have any experience of a recent sale/purchase and can advise on timescales?

Thanks!

My experience is that our house sale was totally down to the wire. We were still negotiating insurance for conservatory planning permission on the morning of exchange. It didn’t matter to us as we’d moved already but it would have been very stressful otherwise.

The missives weren’t concluded until that morning either which from what I’ve heard seems to be more and more common in Scotland.

Thanks for that - getting a bit nail-biting now!

Unfortunately delays in missives are becoming very normal,we are moving much closer to the English system.
However concluding on the day is (thankfully) still unusual
