Runrigs Last Dance-anyone else go?

We're not long back from Saturday night's final concert and still can't believe that its all over! DH and I have been brought up on their music (a 'cooler' option than Jimmy Shand and the Corries!)
Pretty gutted, but the concert was fantastic! Bit disappointed in Donnie Munro's song choice during Runrigs set-I'd have loved to have heard An Ubhal as Airde or Hearts of olden glory sung with the choir, but still good!

I'd have loved to have gone - very Envy. Quite a few friends went, some of whom had been fans for all 25 years.

Their FB posts suggested they loved it Smile

PurpleFrog · 23/08/2018 14:24

I was there on the Friday evening. Grin

@prettybird - you can't count. They were together for 45 years not 25!

Littlemissdemeanour · 23/08/2018 14:27

It was amazing! Also sad too... and agree that Donnie’s playlist was ... a little dull.

I guess he wasn’t allowed the sparkle.

Who else was stuck in the car park for 2 hours?!

PurpleFrog · 23/08/2018 14:29

We were stuck in the carpark for 40-45 minutes and thought that was bad - it was the only thing that wasn't well organised.

prettybird · 23/08/2018 14:30

Sorry - brainfart. Meant to type 45 Blush

Friend had known them (he's a Gaelic speaker).

Littlemissdemeanour · 23/08/2018 14:38

Where were you in car park, out of interest? And when did you arrive?

I thought I was smart by arriving at 3, and getting to the front. Our end of the car park seemed to be worst affected.

Agree everything else was spot on.

TaighNamGastaOrt · 23/08/2018 17:51

Aye, 45 years-they've done well! Loved the bit where Malcolm was shone onto the wall of the castle!
Agree re carpark-we sat in the car for nearly an hour, then ducked out in a smaller queue! We arrived about 5 so were in the second field. And the toilets were ridiculous-there were blokes just peeing randomly up the fence!
But the rest of it was amazing! didnt even care it rained!
Who else had something in their eye during their last ever Loch Lomond? Sad

Not my cup of tea but could hear it in the house. Also worked at home as my road to work was shut and I hate doing all the speed bumps through the raptap. :)From what I hear the fans really loved it and the town was busy for a change, hopefully they'll get the parking situation sorted out a bit better and we get some better other concerts coming.

Here's a video extract from the Saturday night to bring a lump to your throat Wink

I have been a fan for 27 yrs and drove up from Leicestershire for Saturday night. It was a fantastic and emotional night.

DickensianHysteric · 23/08/2018 19:59

I didn't but I wish I had! I hope they bring out a DVD of the concert.

Littlemissdemeanour · 23/08/2018 20:21

Love the name, Taigh Smile .. tha gàidhlig agam Wink

It was a phenomenal concert and LOVED Malcolm on the castle; very atmospheric.

MrsMozart · 23/08/2018 20:25

Oh no!

Saw them a million years ago at a uni ball. Absolutely brilliant.

PurpleFrog · 23/08/2018 20:46

DickensianHysteric - both nights were recorded so there is bound to be a DVD.

There also seemed to be a TV crew there on the Friday. Didn’t recognise the presenters who kept doing little bits to camera way off to the side. They only seemed to be there during Donnie and Julie Fowlis. Wondered if they were doing something for BBC Alba?

TaighNamGastaOrt · 23/08/2018 21:45

Cheers prettybird, we took several videos but thats a good one! DH got a few good vids of the drumming-fab! I saw on Twitter I think that they're bringing out the dvd about christmas?
cheers LittleMiss. learnt a bit at school, can only mind the swear words! hangs head in shame Grin

Wink the swear words are the first thing to learn in any language! So... effective !

TaighNamGastaOrt · 24/08/2018 11:18

Littlemiss, as kids we used to mutter poch ma hoan (spelling!) at any adult!! We're more doric than gaelic!
Am waiting on more Last Dance tshirts to come to their website-the merch stall only had L, XL or XXXXXXL.
have to say, I was surprised at the amount of European fans! where we stayed was full of Dutch, German and Swedish fans who had come over for both nights!
