Holidays in July

We are fairly new to Scotland - having come from England - and so the early summer holiday is new to us. We are used to paying the more expensive plane/ferry/Eurotunnel fares and high season rates for campsites and hotels.

Is there a way of taking advantage of being outside the English school holidays? If so, where do Scottish families go on holiday in July, eg. is Newcastle good for flights? Hull for ferries? Do families head down to Cornwall/Devon? We are looking for places that are hot, quiet and cheap(ish).

We go away just after school breaks up i.e. we go away on 30th June this year. We fly from Manchester as its cheaper than flying from a Scottish airport (Even factoring in an overnight in a hotel plus airport parking).

We usually fly from Manchester - but that is because the particular airport we want (Preveza) is not served by a Scottish airport. Drive down through the night from Glasgow and get practically the first flight out of Manchester (so no delays - and we're more than ready to sleep on the flight Wink). We've even found a good valet parking service that is cheaper than most of the usual long stay places Grin - they pick the car up at the airport and bring it back for you when you get back Smile

Well if you want to visit an English theme park it’s the perfect time!
I would just fly from Glasgow or Edinburgh, couldn’t take the stress of travelling to England with dcs just for a flight.

Or what about Newcastle airport, easy drive from easy central Scotland, and used to be cheaper than scottish flights.

Newcastle, Manchester even Leeds Bradford are all good for cheaper flights if you go before the English schools break up - lots of hotels near the airports offer car parking during your hols if you stay the night before you fly which takes the sting out of the drive south!
