anyone sent their tween/teen kids to the conservatoire for summer courses? contemplating it for DS but MUCH dearer than local sports camp, etc and also less convenient so swithering and dithering...

he has no fabulous skills BTW, just an interest in musical theatre!

Not sure if @weegiemum 's dd has been on it or is going on it - but I've tagged her anyway Smile

Oops - conservatoire and not GSA Blush

It's one of my other friend's ds who is into music and musical theatre (and who is not on MN). Knowing her and what she spends on her ds' extra-curricular activities, trying to find spare time for him to come to ds' parties or even just to "play" was well nigh impossible I'm sure he will have been to at least one. I'll ask her what she thinks.

ended up booking... only saw it the other day but deadline for booking was noon today. would still be good to hear any feedback though, even just so we are prepared Grin

normally stick with local/cheap summer camp stuff so fingers crossed he loves it and it ends up worth the money!

No, my dc have never done this.

For older dc (teenagers S4-6) there are some great classes running at the Tramway Visual Arts Studio in different types of art - printing, 3d modelling etc, I think you have to get in via your Art teacher though. £100/week if you live in Glasgow city.

Kelvingrove do some good short courses too, my ds did one on Comic Book Art a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it.

Glasgow School of Art have summer courses but they're 1) expensive and 2) fairly full on and 3) only for seniors really S5+. Look really good though!

Hoping your ds enjoys the course.

I’ve sent one DC on their classic guitar course summer school. They were probably on the lower side on ability but were made v welcome and enjoyed it.

Another DC to Glasgow School of Art - mixture of courses. They’ve always got a lot out of them.

thanks everyone - fingers crossed! will check out kelvingrove as well in case there's anything that would overlap with my H's holidays (we're not going away anywhere).
