Considering a move.

Are there any MNers live here and can answer a few questions?

Namely: Are there kids around after school or do they all go to childcare/grandparents. (current peeve)
What schools do the kids go to? We could go private but would prefer State.
Is it a nice place to live?

It’s in the East Kilbride catchment.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 20/04/2018 18:29

Is it though? I seen that the local high school is Williamwood which isn't in EK.

To be fair that was on rightmove or similar so could be off.

Think it is in EK catchment But to be certain check with Council
All the people I have known in Thortonhall have gone private

Seniorcitizen1 · 22/04/2018 14:17

Thortonhall is in south lanarkshire council area so williamwood is not a catchment school. Chances of getting into WW on a placement next to zero.

Seniorcitizen1 · 22/04/2018 14:18

WW is probably the nearest school to TH but not in catchment area

Ginger1982 · 22/04/2018 14:27

It would be an East Kilbride school and the houses are extortionate in Thorntonhall. Hope you've got deep pockets! If you go private, there is a train station which is on the Glasgow line and stops at Crossmyloof right across road from Hutchie (I travelled to school from EK this way).

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 22/04/2018 15:58

So frustrating that nearest school is not the one she'd be catchment for.

Will probably stay put for now as currently in good catchment and not keen on glasgow's private schools.

If you can afford a house in TH then you can afford a house in WW catchment

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 22/04/2018 18:47

Yes thats where we are currently but it's quite built up and has some antisocial issues.

Really, really expensive and no amenities nearby so you need a car to get to nearest shops. Half East Kilbride catchment half East Ren.

Seniorcitizen1 · 27/04/2018 14:52

Maybe TH is all in south lanarkshire

trixymalixy · 29/04/2018 22:00

Thorntonhall is definitely not in East Renfrewshire. I have three friends that stay/stayed there. One moved to Busby to be in catchment for Williamwood, another is currently trying to move into east ren and the other sent all her kids to Hutchey.

It is a nice place but very expensive.
