Sensible decision.

East Ren closed tomorrow too. Everyone was sent home from my office at 1pm.

ThomasShelbysBunnet · 28/02/2018 15:38

I'm at home and can't see out my windows. Told the dc that school is closed tomorrow as well and they seem happy. I've got cabin fever already Sad

Mistressiggi · 28/02/2018 15:41

Mine want to go sledging in middle of red warning. I have declined!

LemonadePockets · 28/02/2018 15:43

Glasgow closed tomorrow too. Can’t believe the weather.
Looking out the window and I keep thinking it’ll stop any time soon.. it’s not stopping anytime soon.

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 15:50

Mistress I attempted to go on a group dog walk earlier. The drive there wasn’t too bad but became very heavy as soon as we got there. One of my friends and I decided to just take them up the field to give them some sort of run and 15 minutes later we were snowmen!

The dogs loved it though and I drove back to an extremely worried DH who had been phoning me to tell me to come home Grin

prettybird · 28/02/2018 15:53

My son is out sledging at the moment. With Glasgow schools off, he may well be off out sledging tomorrow too! To be fair, he did go off well layered and with good sturdy desert boots. No idea when he'll be in. Hmm

WaxOnFeckOff · 28/02/2018 16:32

We are off in Stirling again tomorrow. I worked from home today and will tomorrow. My DH has been out driving (ambulance all day and has texted to say he'll be late as he's out in Callendar. I made mine do some school work :)

EmyRoo · 28/02/2018 16:36

We have been out sledging too. Admittedly before it was upgraded to red, but I am going to try and get DS out for a short walk if there is a lull. He goes stir crazy without enough exercise.

prettybird · 28/02/2018 17:19

Ds has just come in after about 5 hours out. Not sure if he went to a friend's for a while but he was caked in snow and said his jeans got really wet at one point (told him he should have worn salopettes).

He is convinced the schools will be off on Friday as he doesn't think the snow will have been cleared sufficiently. I've said that I think that they will, especially secondaries, as they only need to clear enough access to the schools. Or it will be up to individual schools - and his school should be ok for access.

EmyRoo · 28/02/2018 18:23

I agree with your DS, prettybird , although I hope I am wrong. There is nothing moving where I am.

OldTimeStringBand · 28/02/2018 18:34

I think they will be closed on Friday too. Not much point reopening for a day. There's a lot of snow out there and there's an amber for tomorrow up to 6pm as well as the red warning.

I don't think Edinburgh schools will bother to reopen on Friday, as it's a lunchtime finish anyway.

Mistressiggi · 28/02/2018 20:13

That's so not the attitude the schools or councils anywhere will take though!!

cazzyg · 28/02/2018 20:30

Well it was the right decision. Hadn’t stopped in Falkirk all day really and now we have #thundersnow!

Mistressiggi · 01/03/2018 12:00

Having said that, have just heard Edinburgh and Fife are closed again tomorrow!

prettybird · 01/03/2018 12:14

Glasgow is off again tomorrow.

Our local U16 rugby team is in the final of the Scottish Cup on Sunday, to be played at Murrayfield. Will it be going ahead?! Shock

dementedpixie · 01/03/2018 12:30

North and south Lanarkshire off tomorrow too now

trixymalixy · 01/03/2018 13:32

East Ren off again tomorrow too!

prettybird · 01/03/2018 15:32

Director of Education in Glasgow yesterday emailed staff to say that they should attend the closest school, even though all the schools themselves were shut Confused

She then said it was up to individual head teachers - but how would a teacher at one school know what the head teacher at the "closest" school has decided? Confused

At least one of our local schools is a PFI school and therefore managed by Amey - so it was totally shut! Shock So pity the poor teacher who struggled to get to it as their closest school Hmm

The SRU has sensibly cancelled the U16 and U18 Youth Cup Finals on Sunday, so we get a weekend off rugby. Smile (although I'm looking forward to when it does go ahead, as I've got been invited to hospitality at it Grin)

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/03/2018 15:35

Stirling off again and said will update over the weekend about Monday! We are forecast snow on and off right through the weekend, to be really heavy again tonight.

Mistressiggi · 01/03/2018 15:45

It can’t go on into next week, surely?!

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/03/2018 16:00

We have a yellow warning for snow and ice until midnight on Monday into Tuesday when the current Amber warning ends and to be honest if anything it's been worse rather than better since the red warning ended.

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/03/2018 16:03

It's just as well we are on a diet as stocks of bread in the house are now being rationed! We have plenty UHT milk and DH is still out working but is walking and doesn't pass any shops....even if they did have anything left. We have food in, just probably not what we were intending to eat.

Mistressiggi · 01/03/2018 16:15

Have just remembered I have a bread maker..

WaxOnFeckOff · 01/03/2018 16:21

I have some part baked ciabatta things and plenty of crackers/krisprolls. Dss and I in the house can manage with other things but DH will need a sandwich as will be at work and can't guarantee he'll be able to buy anything.
