Sensible decision.

Urgh. Edinburgh state schools are shut but Watson’s hasn’t made a decision yet so DH thinks the DC should be getting up now. I can’t believe they won’t shut (decision by 7) so I could be in bed still!

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 06:18

Forget that. I’ve decided to keep them off regardlesss! Am more concerned about them getting home than getting in. Back to bed!

dancemom · 28/02/2018 06:22

Waiting to hear about Glasgow schools. Not too bad where I am, few inches of snow on the pavements but will turn to slush I'm sure soon.

Roads don't look bad even though the gritters haven't been this way yet.

GCC not one for closing schools but I think they will today.

IrnBruTortie · 28/02/2018 06:37

Oft, wish more councils would follow East-REN etc’s example and make a decision early - need to get DC1 up for the school bus soon. He’s only in S1, so I haven’t experienced this before; if the bus gets them to school, is the school then duty bound to get them home again (charter bus to the school, rather than public transport)? Snow a few inches outside, and still falling thick and fast. DC 2 is easier in that primary is a short 15 min walk so that’s not too bad...

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 06:52

FFS, Watson’s is open. They say they are going to try to run the West Lothian school bus but it will be late- we’re to check Twitter.

Yeah, I’m not sending mine in- am not convinced they’ll get home again!

AutumnGlitterBall · 28/02/2018 06:55

Alloa academy is closed, HT decided half an hour ago.

Not been a lot of snow overnight in Falkirk but the temp has been below freezing all night (emergency service worker freezing my toes off all shift).

The weather warning started at six and runs to 6pm tomorrow. Wonder how bad it will get.

OldTimeStringBand · 28/02/2018 07:03

Glasgow closed, as per twitter.

There's a proper blizzard outside here!

North and south Lanarkshire schools closed

EmyRoo · 28/02/2018 07:13

Yes, I take back my Hmm face from last night, we have snow and it is still snowing.

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 07:21

So that’s the West Lothian school bus cancelled. Glad I read that from the comfort of my warm kitchen and not from the car sitting in the snowy football stadium car park!

Falconhoof1 · 28/02/2018 07:24

Hooray! Snow day!

IrnBruTortie · 28/02/2018 07:31

Renfrewshire all closed too. I wish they’d made the decision last night though!

dementedpixie · 28/02/2018 07:33

East Ren said last night I think

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 07:46

Ha, ha, ha, DH has just given up on waiting for a train (they seem to be running but none has turned up!) so I couldn’t have even sent DC to school that way. I made the right executive decision. Grin

Heriot’s is shut as well so I swear Watson’s must be the only school in Scotland open today.

Ffswtf · 28/02/2018 07:49

East Ayrshire won't update until 8am either. What use is that to those that have to plan ahead Hmm

RJnomore1 · 28/02/2018 07:54

South Ayrshire seems to be business as usual but we are right on the coast and we have snow so I can't believe the village schools are travellable

k2p2k2tog · 28/02/2018 08:15

East Dunbartonshire seem to have learned from the last time when other areas were closed and they dithered over making the call.

We had Groupcall texts from both the Primary and Secondary last night at about 9.45pm saying all schools would close and looking at the weather this morning they've definitely made the right decision. It's very bad, heavy snow overnight in Bearsden, drifting, strong winds. Definitely too dangerous to drive, my kids can walk to school but many can't and neither can the teachers. I think they might close tomorrow too.

Rylanmakesmyheartsmile · 28/02/2018 08:19

Not many school closures here in Aberdeen city - a few schools have delayed openings but none of my DC's schools are affected. I would put money on DS's school closing early today though - they close early whenever they feel like it anyway usually only by 15min which seems completely pointless to me so I would imagine we'll get a group call later. DS has gone off to school in a jacket that is neither waterproof, nor in possession of a hood because it would appear he has lost his decent Jack Wolfskin one. I could cheerfully throttle him right now!

DDs only have 100yds to walk to school so should be ok and I doubt they will close early today or have any changes at all because of the weather. I do hope however that if the forecast is correct and tomorrow is worse, they postpone WBD because they will freeze in their costumes otherwise!

YouCantBeSirius · 28/02/2018 08:26

All our school have closed thankfully, my DD is gutted her swimming lesson is cancelled though.

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 11:58

Oh look, we’re officially in a red snow warning for the rest of today and tomorrow!

OldTimeStringBand · 28/02/2018 13:12

Lots of councils closed tomorrow too. I can't remember snow like this tbh.

North and South Lanarkshire schools closed tomorrow too

WickedGoodDoge · 28/02/2018 14:26

Well Watson’s decided to close at lunchtime and they have confirmed they will be closed tomorrow. Grin

Mistressiggi · 28/02/2018 15:11

Fife and Edinburgh shut too.

Mistressiggi · 28/02/2018 15:11

Tomorrow, I mean
