Stobo castle

I think my husband is getting me a spa weekend at stobo castle for Christmas. I looked at Cameron house too as I've stayed there before and loved it but stobo castle is actually a better deal.

Has anyone had a spa weekend there? What are the rooms and treatments like?

It is fabulous- make sure you stay in the main building though not one of the lodges for the best experience. The food is excellent too - constantly upgrading both bedrooms and public/ spa spaces we have been going for years and every year has something new

Brilliant, thanks Smile

I can't wait!

Oh I concur, it’s fabulous! I’ve stayed in the Castle Lodge both times though and really enjoyed it - you can still wander to the main building in your robe and slippers, it isn’t far. I’d heard that the water pressure in some rooms in the main building was poor, which was why I opted for Castle. They may well have upgraded by now though.

Enjoy! And do go and have a play with the toilets next to the main foyer when you can Wink

I'm planning to go by myself, do other people go by themselves or will I be the odd one out?

Not stayed overnight but have had a Luxury Spa Day there on my own.

In fact a friend started making noises about coming along with me and I was mentally screaming, "Nooooooo, I want a day just with me and my own thoughts, to chill out reading a magazine between treatments and not to gave to make conversation" Shock I am quite sociable usually, honest Wink

There was no problem being there on my own. At lunch I say with other people but I could have chosen to sit on my own see, I'm not that unsociable Wink

I loved it. The spa rooms were lovely and relaxing - as you would expect, many people just wandered around in their dressing gowns and the gardens were lovely (did get dressed to wander round them Grin).

Oh I'm glad. I thought about asking my mum as she's been talking about a night/weekend away but tbh Im just desperate for some 'me time' with a book and 10 hours sleep a night.

Ooo I wouldn't be happy about late night noise. Fingers crossed that doesn't happen. You might have had a hen party below you?
Think I'm going in January so hopefully no big groups!

I love Stobo. Always found it good.

In fact I think I need some time back there.

Noofly · 11/10/2017 19:15

I used to go every once in a while by myself and absolutely loved it to get some peace and quiet. However, after the first time I brought snacks to have in my room because while the food was lovely, I was always starving between meals! Possibly I like to eat too much. Grin

kaytee87 · 12/10/2017 08:11

noofly I already thought I might take some chocolate with me Grin and some biscuits for a cuppa.

I was really disappointed with Stobo Castle - too busy, poor treatments, too noisy.

Few months back I had a spa day at the Edinburgh Sheraton Onespa. Now that was fabulous!

Notthisnotthat · 18/10/2017 21:04

I was disappointed by Stobo, felt it was too busy and they crammed folk in.

I love Gleneagles for a spa day, and my friend raves about one spa.

Dailystuck71 · 28/11/2017 18:14

I didn’t like stobo at all. It felt like a cattle market. You could see all the therapists coming out to March 50 or so people in for a treatment dead on the hour. It just wasn’t personal for me. Think School dinners.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 28/11/2017 19:06

Agree with the sheraton onespa. Had a lovely day there.

purpleviolet1 · 28/11/2017 19:44

Hi kaytee!

I loved stobo, went in December few years ago for a couple of nights and there was snow, it was magical! I loved the food and I'm a fussy eater. You've just reminded me and I'm gonna book myself an afternoon there Grin

LunasSpectreSpecs · 29/11/2017 15:55

If you're in need of chocolate, stop at Cocoa Black in Peebles on your way there. Really delicious stuff and reasonable prices. Love it there, pity it's so far from Glasgow!!
