Random car park questions Perth / Aviemore / pitlochry

Thinking of heading up north for October week, and taking the bikes on the roof. Does anyone have any idea if there are roof height barriers to get into the Hermitage / Pitlochry Dam / in and around Aviemore?

For the hermitage I am not 100% certain. But no height restrictions at the dam. Go on google street view for the entrance and have a wee look.

I think there is for the lower car park at the hermitage but upper is fine for coaches etc.

There's plenty of on street parking in Aviemore without barriers. I've been up there with bikes on roof and never had any problems.

Not sure about the Hermitage but no way would I leave the car with bikes on the roof there.

Can't think of any at Aviemore but then nearly everyone has bikes on roofs there!!

Thanks all - that's very reassuring :) I think we'll try and chuck the bikes in the car when we are not in it, but just in case.

We just locked our bikes on the rack and then locked them together too. It wouldn't stop anyone determined, but would take too long and look too suspicious for anyone to try it during daylight in the town.
