I'm going to be in Aberdeen with my six year old and crawling baby for two days. Any ideas where might be nice to go?

Storybook Glen. My DC loved it.

The Duthie Park has a couple of great play parks and a Winter Garden if it rains. The beach is also always a winner.

The science centre if it's raining. It's quite small so relaxed atmosphere, don't need to worry about getting lost! If it's not raining then the beach definitely.

Thanks very much for the suggestions. Any particular beach that I should aim for? I won't have a car so will be relying on taxis or busses.

The main beach, which I think is just Aberdeen beach, is easily accessible. You can walk there from the city centre or get the bus to close by. There's a play park and leisure centre, plus the Inversnecky Cafe and various chains down there too. Balmedie has a great beach and is a bit wilder, but harder to get to by public transport. The Duthie Park is easy on the bus, or again, I've walked it from the city centre, even with an out of buggy 3 year old. Depends where you're staying of course...

We are staying in Ardoe which I think is about 6k from the city centre. I went for a hotel with a pool in case the weather really doesn't cooperate!

There's also a big softplay down at the Beach and a good playpark. You might also like the Aberdeen Maritime Museum. If the weather is rubbish another option is the cinema at Belmont Street that often has young kids showings. Duthie Park and the winter garden are popular with my kids.

The Ardoe House Hotel? If you're out that way you may as well go to Storybook Glen - now called something like The Den And The Glen - and you're at the right end for the Duthie Park. I'm afraid you'll need to get taxis though, as where you're staying is a bit outside Aberdeen.

Yes at Ardoe House. Story Glen any good in the rain?

There's a soft play at storybook glen. If it's miserable and a weekend, there can be queue to get in. The schools are back now though so through the week will be fine.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely suggestions. DS had a fabulous time at The den and the Glen and Duthie park.
