Exercise class recommendation?

Hi

I live in Edinburgh near Haymarket Station and am looking for a zumba/aerobics class near by? I dont really want to join a gym but am looking for something to do once or twice a week to get a bit fitter and hopefully get to know people.

I moved to Scotland from London about 3 years ago and finding it difficult to meet people other than work colleagues so thought this might be a good start :)

TIA

I've not lived in Edinburgh for many years, but this looks like it might be suitable as it's not in a gym and isn't too far from you - either Polwarth or Murrayfield.

There also used to be a dance centre down at the bottom of Palmerston Place/Belford Road that may have stuff (if it's still there!)

I'd be looking at community centres and church halls for something.

Hope you find things and manage to make some friends, there is lots going on, there used to be a lot of evening classes going on which will start up when the schools go back, that's a good place to meet people with a shared interest or even just those with a "have a go" attitude :)

The thing about exercise classes I should add is that people turn up in time to start and shoot off straight afterwards so although you may get fitter, they are maybe not the best place to make new friends.

I go to a Burlesque Chair Fitness class. I've made some great friends at the class and we talk daily.

It's a good laugh and lots of Banter x

I know you said you didn't want to job a gym but pure gym exchange crescent is a short walk away and they have a good selection of classes included in the monthly fee including Pilates. Think it might be a small supplement for yoga or Zumba.

Ds has just joined a Pure Gym local to us. I got the tour with him and was very impressed with the facilities - all for only £15.99/month (& an extra £1 if you want to be able to go to other Pure Gyms) and a £20 joining fee.

Ds was mostly interested in the weights so didn't find out about the classes - but they did point out the area where the classes take place.

I presume that the prices are similar over in Edinburgh.

Thanks for you suggestions. If I was brave enough, I think I would try the burlesque. It's looks amazing :)

Honestly it's great and the ladies are very welcoming in all the classes. If you have Facebook search Sassy Von Sparkle and she will help you get through the doors.
