Glasgow Passport Office

Hi, I'm in a bit of a pickle and looking for advice.

My DC (13,16,18) are due to fly to see their Dad on Thursday (10th Aug). He has paid flights etc

Just yesterday, I decided to check that their passports were ok and they aren't. One is fine but the 13yr old and 18yr old need renewals.
I looked online today and the next appointment at Glasgow is 1:30 Tuesday (tomorrow) but they only offer same day service for an adult passport, not a kids passport.

Has anyone else been to Glasgow and managed to get a child's passport renewed within a day or two? Or shall we just cancel the flights now?

Does anyone have positive stories about Glasgow Passport Office?

Also, if this was your problem, would you wait for your appointment tomorrow, or just go before and wait to be seen?

We had a similar situation with my child's passport a couple of years ago and I attended the passport office in Glasgow. They don't issue the passports there and then, they send them out in the post. We had DS's back within about three days but in the post. And this was the end of September - not busy summer months.

I think i'd be rearranging flights for early next week if you can.

My friend had a similar situation earlier this year. The passport office were very sympathetic and the passport was ready the next day.

The staff in the Glasgow passport office are fab! They really helped us out a few years ago with a new passport application.

Thank you all for the replies.

I was at Glasgow Passport office most of the day today. The guy I spoke to was very helpful. He asked for proof that travel was booked for Thursday and once I showed him the confirmation he went to speak to someone and then came back and said there were no promises but they would do what they could.

I paid extra to fast-track the 18yr old' application and they linked it to the 13yr old' application and said they would go through together.

Again, they have made no promises but they sort of suggested that I should get a phone call tomorrow when they are ready.

But everyone I spoke to there was helpful and lovely.

Fingers are definitely crossed :)

Glasgow passport office have gone the extra mile for my adult (idiot) son twice when he's lost passports and had flights booked. He then found one of his "lost" passports, so at least he can use that one for id now. I'm not sure they'd be quite so sympathetic for a third time Grin
