Tram stops right at the stadium but then so do the many buses heading out to corstorphine (no 26 and can't remember the rest). Tram is most straightforward through.

I'd look at the tram route and pick somewhere to eat on that, either before you get on or near a stop en-route. The Murrayfield hotel used to do lovely food but I suspect it'll be packed and if you were going there you'd be better on the bus. It's a long time since I lived in Edinburgh so we mainly go in for an evening meal rather than a pub lunch so i am a bit out of touch tbh. Ryries Bar at Haymarket maybe or the Omar Kayam Indian used to be nice.

Thanks Wankers, I think the tram is definitely the way to get there then 🙂

My mum lives further west than the stadium, we tend to park at hers and jump on the tram into town, there is a stop just at the south entrance. There aren't that many stops so choose your stop offs carefully! I used to live in Corstorphine and had my wedding in the Murrayfield so it's an area I am fairly familiar with, albeit many moons ago.

Murrayfield is walkable from Haymarket but you'd probably be a bit tired walking from the Royal Scots Club (my brother used to work there :) )

South entrance of Murrayfield that is :)

Also just to add in case you go back to Edinburgh, I'm a fan of Premier Inn's new Hub hotels. We've stayed a couple of times for £30 for the room for a night. Small rooms but all mod cons and very clean and modern. It makes a nice cheap mini break for us. Drive to Mums for a visit, leave the car, tram into town, check in to hotel, go for meal and drinks and then go out for breakfast, tram back to pick up car and home :)

That's a good tip - I love a weekend in Edinburgh 😁

Oh, and they'll store your luggage for you for a donation to charity :)

En route to murrayfield tomorrow is going to be heaving. It will be like rugby day. You could eat at the ground. Doors open at 3 I think and enjoy a few drinks while you are there otherwise I'd look at booking somewhere, may be on George Street and jumping on the tram to the stadium.
