Glasgow Caledonian Uni

Anyone any experience of studying here? I have an offer for a conversion course in Psychology and am trying to decide between GCU and Sheffield Hallam. I'm not from the UK and have never been to Glasgow (or Sheffield for that matter) so would really appreciate some advice!

Thanks3 have had a look at the stats but was hoping to hear some info about people's experiences of the uni, not just stats! Also about Glasgow and what its like as a city

Glasgow is a very vibrant city. It's got three universities so quite studenty. Friendly and open people (chatty, some might say too chatty sometimes). Not really for the reserved/shy (people will talk to you at bus stops). Loads to do, music scene, art scene....

I think I'm looking at the same course but on a part time basis.

Glasgows a great city. I haven't studied at caley before but I know a few who have an no complaints. There are definitely lots of foreign students.

What would you like to know?

Is english your first language? If not (and even if it is) the accent may take a bit of getting used to

I did Physio at Caley. Nice modern campus, lovely staff and a good university union although I preferred to go to the Strathclyde Union or Glasgow Uni union instead. Excellent for accommodation and close to the bus/train/underground stations. I live in Glasgow and think it's fantastic whether you're outgoing or not, lots of libraries and coffee shops as well as pubs and clubs.

Thanks everyone, it's great to hear positive things about the uni and the city, STILL haven't made my decision yet though

One plus point to the Caley is that it is slap bang in the middle of town, walking distance to everything. They're building loads of new ultra-posh student accommodation round there too.

I did my psychology degree at Caly and I liked it! Did postgrad at Strathclyde. Caly good for health courses, psychology (I like it was a BSc & more science focused than a broad BA social sciences) I'm a bit out of touch now but when I was there think it was pretty well thought of for psychology (they ran forensics psychology post grad that was very competitive to get into). But I was there quite a while ago now so everything cooks be different!
