"glow" portal, what is it and what to do with it?

At my dd's school they use the portal "glow" and we have been given username and password. I had a look at it, but I am not clear what I am supposed to do with it or what it is for.
Is there anyone who uses it at home who would like to share their experience?

I've not used it yet but ds' school apparently now uses it for all their on-line teaching resources. So ds will use it to upload work (I think - never see anything he does Blush) and use it to access past papers and teaching notes.

There is a Glow Twitter feed @GlowScot which often suggests different ways it can be used. (I know ds' school's parent council's Twitter feed keeps re-tweeting stuff from them but have never clicked through).

I'm never sure either. Our primary used to put the newsletter and stuff on there I think. DSs might use it but as far as I know, all their homework/on-line stuff from teachers comes through Edmodo and then we also have Parentpay for newsletters/info and paying for school lunches and trips and also Parent Portal for their on-line reports.

As a teacher my email is through it. I can use it to access basic Microsoft products without buying the package (as can your DC) . There are resources available and various blogs. I believe primary colleagues use it more but that might just be my (backwards) local authority where secondary are sticking with Edmodo and Whatsap.

I was just about to mention the access to Microsoft Office, which I'd only just remembered.

The school is trying to work out ways to ensure equality of access to all - whether that is via a school wifi or whatever.

I remember a HT telling us that soon everything would be done on Glow. Well about 10 years later, I've never used it and I don't know of many of my colleagues who do. Every time I try to go on it, I have to change my password and once I'm on, I've never found anything particularly useful on it.
