I've saved up enough money to put down a deposit for my wedding, any recommendations? We're looking at Glasgow/Renfrewshire area

Well, anywhere in Scotland can be a wedding venue, since we don't have the same licensing system they have down south, so what kind of wedding are you planning?

Don't know if this is in the right area for you, but my brother got married at Duck Bay Hotel on Loch Lomond, near Balloch. The views of the loch are fabulous.

Could you give an idea of what style of venues you have in mind, estimate of day guest numbers? Also is an outdoor area important to you?

Amanda89x · 20/10/2016 16:36

two weeks I was actually looking at Duck Bay! Think I'll arrange a viewing for there.

We're looking for a venue that will hold the whole day event (preferably a hotel as we want to hire rooms for family and ourselves to stay on the night of the wedding) it'll be around 80 day guests and 120 for eve with a budget of £5000 for the venue. Preferably an indoor venue

The lodge on Loch lomond

Lochgreen Hotel, Troon? Attended a lovely wedding reception there recently. No idea of prices but it's a lovely venue.

Lochgreen is lovely, if its a summer wedding I would go for one of their other hotels - Highgrove (near Troon) or Brigadoon in Alloway.

Food is always excellent.

Mar Hall, Gleddoch House or Lynnhurst Hotel.

Amanda89x · 24/10/2016 17:36

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Will have a look into these Smile

I passed Boclair House/Hotel? a few weeks ago and it looked beautiful. Bearsden, I think it was.

Chipscheesentomatosauce · 24/10/2016 17:38

The Cruin at Loch Lomond is also lovely.

Seamill Hydro is gorgeous

trixymalixy · 24/10/2016 20:38

The house for an art lover is a gorgeous wedding venue.

bonnieweelass · 24/10/2016 20:45

boclair is ridiculously expensive
cruin not ideal inside, especially on a wet day.
cameron house? lodge on the loch?

seb1 · 25/10/2016 23:39

Not too far away but I got married there many moons ago Burnhouse Manor

Lucked · 25/10/2016 23:54

There are a few Scottish wedding magazines which might be helpful.

I have been to a few weddings at Roman Camp in Callander which have been lovely. There are rooms but also lots of local b&bs.

Crossbasket castle is new and has been beautifully done
