Computing at Strathclyde

Hi

Has anyone got a son/daughter starting Strathclyde? My son is doing Computing. It seems that Freshers Week starts 12 Sept, which is when they get their course details too. This seems a bit late to me, given that they will have to get their book lists and get the actual books. Son is not the best at chasing info up front so I'm getting worried that we are missing something ...am I just panicking?

We got our books lists in the first week of class. No rush to buy them.

I have no intention of babying him Fizzy....I was expressing concern regarding the amount of time available to get the books....

Thanks Notthisnotthat, good to know.

There are plenty of bookshops in Glasgow. There;s even a bookshop right on Campus by the library. And plenty of 2nd years who are happy to sell on first year books to recoup some cash.

He'll probably not need many if any books...

I would hope that doing computing he will be able to download the books.

For the actual programming classes the first couple of weeks will be unteaching everything he learned at school or on his own.
