Any advice about Currie (Edinburgh), parks etc?

Hello,
Planning a move to Currie with two primary aged dcs - if we can get a home for around £250 which I hope we can. I think all the local schools seem good but stumped for advice about what to do with family there - parks, playgrounds, cafe, softplay that sort of thing. Don't want to always have to use the car, especially not to drive back into the city. Would a teenager (not there yet!) get bored or is the public transport pretty good? (We have rejected South Queensferry based on comments on here about boredom and needing driven everywhere!)

Various campus activities allow non-student participants.

Lots of buses some to Currie, others to HW campus, night bus runs from Edinburgh to campus. You might need to pick them up at campus or let them walk a couple of miles.

Most of Currie is accessible by the number 44 bus which runs very 10 minutes until early evening then every half an hour. It takes between 30/40 minutes to town depending on the time of day. You are close by the water of leith which is a great place to walk or cycle for all ages, easy access to the Pentlands. The Corner cafe is great and is sort of a community hub too. My kids went to Juniper green for primary but are now at Currie High, have great friends, do lots of sport, and are achieving high academic results. The high school has a community programme of evening classes for adults but also does swimming for kids, hosts various clubs for all ages and has a good summer/ holiday programme too.

Thank you both, that's just the kind of thing I wanted to hear. I think the only thing I'd miss then is then is being quite near to the sea! I did drive out recently and was pleased at how quickly we could drive into the centre (albeit on a Sunday). When if I drag myself out running could use the water of leith walkway. Are the a lot of new to the area people, are people friendly? (In as much as anyone can ever say that, some areas are friendlier than others though ime!)

I have never been to the Pentlands

We used to live at Juniper Green, children went to school there. There are play parks, lots of walks, not far from sports/swimming pools, easy to get into the city center for adults & teens.

In my mind it's about as far out as S Queensferry, and I know on threads here people have sometimes said there wasn't much for teenagers to do in SQ, so wanted to check.
