Summer Sessions Bellahouston

DD and her cousin have tickets for Saturday 27 at Bellahouston to see Fall Out Boy and Biffy Clyro. I have agreed to drive them to Glasgow from the NE and drop them at Bellahouston. Is the whole park closed off for the event and are the number of entrances/exits limited ?

I am hoping to drop them off at the Nithsdale Rd entrance and to pick them up somewhere near Dumbreck station as DD is reasonably familiar with the streets there ( near where Granny used to live) . Is this a reasonable plan or will the traffic be manic ?

Also is the event safe enough - this is only DD's second proper concert. DD is a sensible girl but will be just 17 and my niece is a couple of months younger and is not quite so streetwise as DD.

Any hints and tips gratefully received

We go every year and we'll be there next Saturday too. When you have that many people in one place there will always be some element of trouble but I personally wouldn't worry as the the vast majority of people are there to have a good time. There was also a good police presence from what I remember. There are numerous entrances and you should be fine dropping them off at nitsdale road. There will be lots of people walking there and they'll be able to follow the crowd in. When it's over the streets are filled with parents in cars waiting to pick all their kids up. I've loved every time I've been, they'll have an amazing time.

Thanks MissMarple - do people queue before the gates open - DD wants to get there as early as possible so she can get close to the front.

Probably, I'm a bit past the days of wanting to be at the front!! It opens pretty early so it's a long wait till biffy coming on around 9ish. Im sure there will loads waiting down the front though. I got an email today with all the details on it so I'm sure you're daughter will have got the same. There are lots of food and drink stalls as well so it's easy to pass the time till the bands are on. My only real advice and it's don't separate. If one of them needs to pee they both go together. It's a large crowd to get separated in.

I was hoping another friend of dd would also be going which would have meant 3 or 4 of them but it will just be dd and dniece. DD is really going to see Fall Out Boy ( she is a huge fan) and is not so keen on Biffy Clyro so I think the plan is to get close to the front for FOB and then make their way towards the back during Biffy and perhaps to leave just before the end. I went last year and it was chaos at the end. It's really dark going from the stage to the exit, and last year it was like a swamp too. At the end, thers a traffic-free cordon for what felt like miles to my tired feet, but it's busy and well policed. Hope she has a great time.

Also, there are well signposted "meeting points" on the way out. Suggest her and her friend arrange to meet there if they get separated.

Thanks - that's useful to know. I will suggest she takes her headtorch with her and that they pick a meeting point should they get separated. I'll agree a pick up point with them probably somewhere near to Dumbreck station as dd knows that reasonably well. Hope the weather is halfway decent and everyone has a good time.

I'm going to this too, and my son is possibly going on the Friday night. He's 15 and I'm not too worried about him, as others have said it'll be a mixed crowd and troublemakers will be in the tiny minority.
The other 2 bands on before Fall Out Boy, Cage the Elephant and Wolf Alice, are excellent too, hope your daughter has a great time!

There are buses going from/to Buchanan Bus Station for £5 if that appeals.

My 16 yr old DD is going pretty much just to see FOB as well, lol...though I haven't got as far as working out where I'm dropping her off.

I'm sure I read Richard Ashcrjoft would be singing at that time superjaggy and he's the last support so it'll just be those who are just going for Noel. Hopefully it won't be too bad.

Hi all - thanks for all the info - sounds like it will be a good event and DD is really looking forward to it. The tickets are her birthday present - and I agreed to drive her and her cousin down from Aberdeenshire - I didn't want to have to drive down to collect them if they missed the bus back

Hi all - DD and her cousin had a great time although they thought the food was expensive. I dropped off at about 3.30pm amd collected agin about 10.30pm. Had no problems with either drop off or pick up event seemed to be very well organised and well policed. DD said atmosphere was good and that there was a nice feel to it - she is keen to go again next year. Hope everyone else had a good time.
