Dd received a SQA envelope with a level 4 in Life and Work in French.

What does this mean? One of the boys at an activity tried to convince me it was a Nat 4 equivalent.

Aargh phone posted before I was finished. Google leads me to believe it's equivalent to Scotvec Modules we got in the 90's.

Yes that's what she got. I read it but it means nothing.

Yes, I think anything with SQF 4 would be a National 4 equivalent.

SQA obvs.

my eldest has just gone into 4th year so its not something I'm familiar with sorry :(

I think it's an award give under the recognising positive achievement aspect of the Nationals. it would allow your DC to progress on to a Nat 4 and beyond in the language course. Means the work done and progress made up to now has been acknowledged with a SQF pointed qualification. But no, not the same as Nat 4 French. Be like saying Nat 4 Literacy Skills was Nat 4 English. Hope that makes sense Confused

Thanks Lid

I'm not getting my head round this new system at all.

She goes in to 4th year in June.

So a good sign Grovee, although BGE not assessment years they've gathered quantifiable evidence of skills. If your DC is dropping the subject then they can still list the qualification in future.
