Hi everyone! Does anyone know of any free things or places around the UK that your kids absolutely love? Really interested to hear about any odd or mundane places that your kids find fascinating. I'm thinking things like tree with a big hole in it, or a wall covered in moss, trolley tunnels or even just a ramp they won't stop running up and down! I would love to know the location of spots, as specific as possible, to help myself and others find these for the kids to see/or play on this summer holiday 🙂 Thanks so much. Any pictures as well would be amazing!

Hmmm I suppose the ruins of Bedford castle used to entertain my two when they were little. Added bonus of being situated on the river (great for scootering) and near a great park. I’d say suitable for 8 and under.

There is a really great nature trail which goes down into a narrow glen, and criss crosses a burn with a board walk and rickety steps. My DD loves it, she thinks it's the most exciting walk ever. It's in Clyde Muirshiel park - more info here, it's the 3km nature trail.

Greenock Cut Visitor Centre – Clyde Muirshiel

Eastham Woods/Eastham Ferry on the Wirral. Great for spotting planes to Liverpool airport. Can often spot tanker boats and lots of motorbikes. The woods was an old pleasure gardens which has a bear pit.

Plane spotting at Heathrow. Public transport around the site is cheap/free. So many great viewing spots and cafés.
