Two parents, 1 working full time Monday - Friday, one working full time Wednesday - Saturday.

How many days annual leave would be fair for each parent to take off work to cover a weeks school holiday?

Ok so you don't need anyone to take off Mon or Tues or Sat (as covered by the parent not working), leaving three days (Wed to Fri). So I guess it would be fair for one parent to take 1 day off and the other to take 2 days off (and maybe swap next time).

Is the problem that one of you has a shorter working week? So if the parent who works 4 days takes 2 days off then it's half a week holiday Vs just under half for the other on a 5 day week?
TBH we have never really been too precise about making it a fair split, it depends on who is more able to take time off during those holidays, and we also use clubs or childcare swaps so maybe that's an answer, each parent takes a day and you book into a club for the third?

It sounds as if neither of you want to spend time with your DC. Taking annual leave to be with your DC is what it is all about.

I’d share it but if the parent who works 4 days gets the same holiday entitlement but pro rata’d I think it’s be fair to edge it so the FT working parent covers more days so you end up with the same amount of A/L left.
