Hi everyone I need some help re term time holidays. So we have 2 girls both in primary school aged 10 and 11 and haven't had a holiday in years now we simply can't afford school holiday prices like many. My husband works a lot of hours he's knackered and suffers with severe depression he needs a break and we need a break as a family the last couple of years have been very hard. Anyway I'm looking at booking a week in Spain for us at the beginning of April just before the kids break up for his birthday but I will have to take the kids out of school for 3 days to be able to afford it.
I've read on the gov website that a child has to be absent from school (unauthorized) for 5 days or more before a fine is considered by the local authority and it says as much on my local council's website as well. Anyway I wanted to ask if there's a chance they would still fine us even though it would be 3 days and not 5+.
I understand taking kids out of school is not ideal but as a family we really need it we've had a hard time of late , I'm unsure what to do and whether to risk it any advice please , appreciated.
