What do toddlers wear in the pool?

This is probably quite a stupid question but I really don’t know the answer.
When I take my 20 month old swimming in the uk she is in swim nappy, happy nappy and long sleeved cozzie. She doesn’t have arm bands or any kind of float device.
We are taking her on her first foreign holiday later this year and I’m not sure what’s needed. I’m picturing her being in and out of the pool a lot; do we have her in a swim nappy all day? And should I be acquiring a floatie vest thingy? I’m aware that they are absolutely not to be used in place of supervision but do people use them as an extra security?

Swim vests are great. You still have to be right there next to them but they float so you don’t have to hold them up which is helpful if you go out of your own depth.

When DS was that age, we used a swim nappy beneath a swim suit thing (with long sleeves and arms). I don't think we used the happy nappy thing on holiday. I changed the swim nappy whenever DS was out of the water. If you get the ones that pull down, you can reuse them if they're clean. I didn't want DS in a swim nappy when he wasn't in the pool though because they're not designed to catch much. My main concern was sun more than anything else.

Yes she’ll need to be in a swim nappy while I’m and out of the pool, checked regularly for poop and yes to the swim vest. We always used these abroad but not at home. Easier for them to float around rather than being held all the time

DS used to sit in the pool in a rubber ring with us holding onto it. We didn't have other floatation devices until he was older I think.

She should have arm bands on in the pool Swim nappy and and swim suit to keep the sun off her

Have you seen the warnings over swimsuit colours? Try not to get blue or green and go for bright colours so easier to spot if they go under the water x

It is quite a while ago but I bought a full length outfit that was SPF 50 so it was helpful in keeping their skin safe.

Yes. I think I read that before I was pregnant actually, but thanks for the reminder!
