Hi 👋. New here and after some advice on how school fines work please. I'm taking my DC on holiday in the half term but they won't return to school till the Friday in the week after the half term. The Monday after half term is an inset day. I was under the assumption that I won't get fined because it's under 5 days but I've since been told that schools include inset days, school holidays and weekends too. Can anyone in the Essex area let me know if they have done the same and how they got fined? I'm not planning on asking for pre-authorisation, I'm just going to log their absence day by day and will be letting the school know it's for a holiday.
