Holiday in term time

We are going on holiday in may half term but need to take DS6 out for 3 days before. I've not applied to the school yet as I'm a coward (that's for another thread!!)
If the leave doesn't get authorised and you still go, does it just go down as unauthorised absence? Why am I so scared for god sake 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

I mean, if you've already booked it, you are taking your child out, authorised or unauthorised.
I wouldn't ask permission. Just tell school that DS will be absent on X, Y and Z of May due to a family holiday.

We are going for 9 days on Thursday, not heard from school about it being unauthorised or not but the woman I handed my form to said it probably won't be authorised but we don't fine at this school. Enjoy your holiday, I'm sick of being guilt tripped by the government for going on holiday in term time yet its fine when other kids in the class are off frequently with the odd day here and there and my DS has 100% attendance so far this year!
