Budget friendly activities

What are some budget friendly activities for a 10 year old boy (only child)?
My mind has gone blank, we live near a beach but have exhausted that option for days😂 and need something new to do!

Difficult to say without knowing where you are and whether you can get to a city or large town!

What sorts of things is he interested in?

Low cost things that we've enjoyed: borrowing or hiring bikes and riding round a country park; bird-watching at local reserve (this would annoy the heck out of me if I did it often, but as a one-off it's surprisingly absorbing); taking sketchbooks along to a nearby free/cheap country pile (or gallery or cathedral) and trying your own Landscape Artist challenge; buying one of the Treasure Hunt maps and exploring a town/city on foot; recreating a Swallows and Amazons-type adventure (if not in full then bonfire with campfire cooking, or at least toasted marshmallows); holiday activities/taster days at sports clubs
