Where to move in Lancashire

Hello,

We’re looking to move to Lancashire next year and am hoping to be given some advice about nice areas to live. My husband grew up in Hebden Bridge, in Pendle area and around Hellifield so has knowledge of these places but we have no idea about schools. Our 4 year old will be starting school next year and I’d really (as everyone does) like him to go to a good school and have the opportunity to go on to a great secondary. Does anyone have any recommendations of good areas?
thanks

South Ribble- Hutton, New Longton, Longton, Higher Penwortham. Some nice semi rural areas. The city centre isn’t so great but the local parks are lovely and the schools excellent. Half an hour to the coast, an hour to the Lakes, Liverpool, Manchester.

Garstang is nice!

The Ribble Valley area has good schools, East Lancashire does not. A bit pricey but Clitheroe, Walley and surrounding villages are nice.

I have lived both Preston way, again, good schools and East Lancashire.
Personally, I prefer East Lancashire as I am an outdoors type person and the countryside is beautiful and the sense of community is greater.

Preston traffic is horrendous and has got worse over the years. If you like sitting at traffic lights, Preston is the place for you 🤣
