Harestock - what's it like with young kids?

Hello

we are currently planning a move from London to Winchester with two young children (almost 6 and 2.5). Moving to be closer family and because ultimately, we don't see our kids going to secondary school in London. Oh and our flat here is too small for us now.

we have a buyer but haven't found anywhere we like yet in Winchester in our budget (£600k). We found one place in Weeke but it didn't work out.

we have some properties lined up in Harestock to see later this week but I know nothing about the area. Can anyone advise? What's the primary school like? Nurseries? And any dodgy bits to avoid? Equally, any especially good spots?

DH and I will both need to commute to London on alternate days so will need to get to Winchester station easily and the parent at home will be doing school/nursery runs - is that feasible from Harestock?

Thanks!

I may be too late response to this.
The area is fine, schools are all good. you will get more for your money outside Winchester though. Schools are also good outside so don't stress about that.
Winchester is generally fine the dodgy areas are stanmore and Winnall.

The primary and the secondary schools especially are all very good schools so no stress at all
