If you could live anywhere in the UK…

Where would you go? But of fun/dreaming but we are in a fortunate position of moving abroad for a few years and are selling up our house. We’d like to keep a foot in the UK but without the worry of a big mortgage. Will have up to £500k to buy a place here to rent out until we return. Would love beautiful views, community spirit, not too far from conveniences. Will have teenage children by the time we get back so considering places they can go nearby, both in terms of schools and socially. However, feel free to ignore all that and just tell us your favourite places in the UK! Where would you pick and why?

This is very tricky as what I love you may not.
I would not move from my current home 3 miles South West of Newbury London, Oxford and Southampton all in an hour. 5 minutes to A34 so easy for husband to do work visits along A35, m40 corridor and for him to get to the airport. But we live in an AONB which has dark sky designation our house has incredible views with unbelievable sunrises and sunsets.
I never expected to find somewhere with all the rural feel, but 5 minutes from a Little Waitrose and such easy transport connections.
There are surprising places out there you just need to go looking.
