<1hour to Moorgate commuter relocation

Looking to relocate closer to London, to reduce husband’s commute time to Moorgate (currently in South Wales). Want a door to door commute of one hour tops, with a budget of £900k max and wanting 4bed with off-street parking ideally. As our only big criteria is the commute time, we’re feeling a little lost in our search. We have a 1.5yo and another due soon. All the usual wants; low crime, safe, some nice green space/countryside within reach etc. So far have considered Sevenoaks, Bishops Stortford and Marlow but wondered if we’re missing any gems?

Tring? About an hour exactly.

I commute to Moorgate from Sevenoaks. Great commute.

Elmstead Woods/Chislehurst into Cannon street and then a 12 min walk to Moorgate. Great schools.

Thanks for the suggestions.
@Thethingswedoforlove would you recommend it as a pleasant place to live for a young family?

@Sunshineandshowers00 most definitely. During lockdown we discovered all sorts of nearby lovely walks (a farm and woodland at the end of the road that we didn’t even know about!) and people are really friendly which totally surprised me. Schools are good. So happy here.

Villages around Milton Keynes?

crumpet · 14/04/2024 20:49

Or look at the Elizabeth Line routes. Liverpool St is minutes walk from Moorgate

FakeMiddleton · 14/04/2024 20:49

Seconding what Crumpet said

The Liz line platform has literally LSS at one end and Moorgate at the other

Loughton, Theydon Bois or Epping on the central line. 35-45 mins to Liverpool st and then 5 mins walk to Moorgate. All have lovely community feel and the forest for walks/bike rides.

Thanks for all for the comments. We’re leaning towards Sevenoaks and so wondered if there were any areas to avoid in or around there? Thanks
