Hi there,
We want to move out of London to live nearer family.
My parents live in Gloucestershire and my BIL and family near Lewes in Sussex. Our friends mostly live in London and south of London in Brighton/Surrey. In our hearts we want to live by the sea and Lewes feels like the perfect place - great town and our daughters will grow up with their cousins and also near our friends' kids. If we move to Gloucs it feels like a big move. And I'm not sure how I feel about moving to the place where I grew up. But it is beautiful there.
We fear breaking my parents' hearts if we didn't move near them, they'll be about 3 hours away and the kids won't grow up near their grandparents. My parents are so excited about the possibility of us moving there I'd feel I'd let them down.
The other option is we move somewhere in between so we're about 1.5 hour from both my parents and BIL and family. But where? We want to move somewhere artsy and interesting.
How to decide what to do? It's going round and round in my head!
Is it better for kids to grow up near grandparents or near cousins and friends? And if the latter, how do I communicate our decision to my parents?
Any thoughts so welcome.
