We currently live in Altrincham in a 3 bed terrace with small yard. Kids are 8 and 2. We would like to move and would love a 4th bed and garden, and for me it has to be a period house with character, rather than a new build. We absolutely cannot afford this in Altrincham, we could get a house a similar size with a garden but I really want more space, and green space, or we could move to a bigger house with small garden in a nearby but not so good location.
Alternatively we have seen an amazing house in Lower Whitley which is about 12 miles away but only 15 mins to school etc (but on the motorway). I liked the idea of living slightly more rurally but this village has no shop/cafe etc and I'm worried it will be too much of a change. I'm not worried about having to drive everywhere, but where do people meet/socialise/go to toddler groups/kids activities from there?
I'd love to hear from anyone who lives there or knows the area. Will it be too boring or is there a nice community feel?
