Is Ripley a safe area?

Hi fellow parents

We are looking at buying a house in Ripley in the vicinity of the Sir Barnes Wallis Recreation Area. We don't know the area (currently living in Nottingham) but I've read some rather disturbing stats about violent crime, sexual offences and drugs in Ripley. As a mom of two teen girls I'm obviously a bit wary of this.

Is there anyone on here who know if this is a real concern? What is it like to live there day to day? Is it a case of 'avoiding certain areas' and you'll be fine?

Thanks for any advice. (-:

Ripley Derbyshire? Whereabouts in Nottingham are you to compare with?

It's a completely normal area in my opinion. It's not West Bridgford obviously but it's not the ghetto. I've done some work in the Lons school which is there and it was absolutely lovely.

I've never heard of Ripley being crime ridden. If anything it's awash with police from the HQ.

I don't think the high school is very good although my information isn't really up to date.

I googled it and there seem to be a lot of stabbings.

I googled it and there seem to be a lot of stabbings.

I can only find two. One in 2020 and one in 2023. Both men stabbing other men in the wee hours of the night. One of which was in a nightclub.
