Hi,

DH and I have decided to move, with out 2 primary school aged kids, out of the south east and get more for out money in the midlands, mid to south Lincolnshire, Rutland kind of area. But! We cannot find the right spot after months of searching, so am looking for suggestions, please, we need:

• easy links back to London for DH work a couple of times a month
• a hospital with and a&e no more than 15 mins away as one dc has complex health needs
• open to good size village or a small town
• must have at least a local shop
• excellent secondary schools

Open to all ideas! Thanks x

Warwick?

NBLarsen · 08/05/2023 14:27

(Hospital and east train to London)

Why not Peterborough, Grantham, Leicester catchments?

shoutinggalore · 08/05/2023 18:03

We've explored Grantham and the surrounding areas. No hospital with a&e though. Nearest is Boston or Lincoln

How about Norwich? It's a lovely city.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 02/06/2023 17:13

Stamford? Lovely town and within 10 miles of Peterborough which has a major hospital.

MayBeee · 02/06/2023 17:14

I was also going to suggest ( North ) Norfolk .

MyGrandmaLizzie · 02/06/2023 17:18

North Norfolk is sadly too far from hospitals and has the worst ambulance response times in the country, unfortunately.
Norwich is lovely though but maybe out 9f ideal area.

Thanks for the suggestions; starting to feel like I'm looking for a something that doesn't exist Confused

A beautiful town but sadly we can't get any better house there than we already have, possibly smaller even

Look at Deeping St James, near to Peterborough for hospital and trains to London. Good schools in catchment area for Bourne Grammar school.

Whatames · 02/06/2023 20:33

Could you come further North. I live 8 miles north of York. Twenty minutes to hospital, 2 hrs by train to London, beautiful village life but near enough to a city

butmumineedit · 02/06/2023 20:33

How about Sleaford area -15 mins to Boston hospital - 20 mins to Grantham station for trains to London

Grantham has got an A&E at the moment.

ScarRegrets · 02/06/2023 20:34

I'd look at Northamptonshire. Although the major towns aren't much to write home about, many of the villages are gorgeous and you could look towards Kettering or Northampton town for A&E and train stations. Some larger villages and smaller towns worth considering are:
Long Buckby
Earls Barton
Rothwell
Brixworth
Burton Latimer
Oundle
Thrapston

shoutinggalore · 02/06/2023 20:43

I will look into these, thank you 😊
