Can anyone give me a gauge on what it’s like to live in Lymington, Dorset please?

It's a nice area. Little highstreet with a few shops, delis, pubs. It's quite expensive though. Lymington is in Hampshire by the way!

Lovely place, touristy in the summer. Near the New Forest and the sea so best of both worlds. Still has a thriving market in the high street once a week (Saturday I think)

It's pricey and super touristy in the summer but nice. You can get to some lovely places. It's in Hampshire though.

Thanks, we’ve been looking at houses on rightmove so we aware of the very high price to live in or around Lymington. We have a young family too, would be interested to find out what facilities and activities there are for young families around the town and surrounding areas.

We moved from mid Bucks to just outside Lymington 4 years ago. We love it! We're middle aged, but there are so many things to do for families, there is always lots going on. Lymington also has a train station which links with Brockenhurst so you can get to Soton or Bournemouth. During the summer the area does get very busy but you get to know the places to go, or just go out earlier to avoid the crowds! The forest is stunning and there are always walks you can find that are quieter. We spend a lot of time on the beaches and took up paddleboarding! Lymington itself has quite a few shops and some independents, loads of cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is a market every Saturday along the high street which is very popular. There is a hospital for non emergencies. Everyone is friendly and generally a sociable bunch as a lot of us are "blow ins".

It's horrific in the summer- getting in and out to your own house. Also, all of the ferry traffic!

Ah thanks very much for your replies. My parents are in Highcliffe, moved just over two years ago. We are in our late 40’s with a two young boys. Just find myself almost in tears everyone we leave my parents! We love it there. I also Paddleboard. We live by a lake here in Buckinghamshire so often paddleboarding out on the lake. Just love that stretch of coastline and Lymington, just something about it but seems so does everyone else, property prices are crazy and nothing seems to sit on the market for very long at all!
