Living in Ross on Wye

Hello lovely mumsnetters! Who can tell me about life in Ross on Wye and the surrounding areas?

It looks like there’s an active community with lots going on, and of course plenty of countryside and outdoorsy stuff to keep one occupied.

We’re a young family looking to move to the area so keen to hear about local schools, clubs for little ones and info or advice on the best villages / neighbourhoods to consider.

Depends on how 'rural' you want to be but Llangrove is lovely. Primary school and chruch, throws a good fete, and has a good community feel - there's a pub that does food, albeit not very flashy.
5 minutes from a shop, and 10 from Ross. 15 from Monmouth.
Downsides is the roads can be difficult in winter, but that goes for every rural village around there.
