hi, new here. gotta cooking query that's been bugging me for a long time!
like a roast chicken on a Sunday but also like to go for a walk with the kids Sunday morning. what i need to do is to put a chicken in for three or four hours.
usually get the chicken in a bag from aldi or Morrisons.
I been putting it in for three or four hours on gas mark 2, and it seems ok, and no one's gotten ill yet, but I'm worried someone will?
any thoughts anyone. and i don't want to use a slow cooker. got my roasts and cheese pasty to think of!
thanks.

Slow cooker the chicken. I cant live without mine.

What exactly are you worried about? As long as the chicken reaches a safe temperature it doesn't matter if it's cooked fast or slow. Gas mark 2 = 150degrees C, and chicken needs to get to 75 degrees I think, so I can't see how it could fail to achieve that in 3+ hours.

If you are worried get yourself a meat probe thermometer.

wasn't sure if gas 2 ever be hot enough! 75 degrees. I better google that

If your oven has a timer just put it in for a couple of hours at 160 or 170 and it will keep warm till you get back. Hot gravy and job done!
