Hi all,

My partner and I are looking
to leave london to start the next stage of our lives and move out to bucks. We have found a great house in Princes Risborough (white leaf) and we’re wondering if there are some people on here who can comment on how the town is right now? (As some of the threads on here are a little old) .Have seen there are plans for expansion in the town- how do locals feel this will affect the area? Any other noteworthy opinions ? Good or bad. All feedback appreciated. Thanks C

Hi @Custard21,

I know the area really well. Lived there for 20 years, moved out 8 years ago but still work there.

Whilst it used to be a traditional market town, to me now having moved out and living truly rural, PR feels incredibly noisy and loud with no village feel at all....the exact opposite of how I used to feel about it.

It's a rat-run for the emergency services now and the shops now are not a patch on what was there pre-Covid. The new eatery will do well in the High St and is needed but I can't see how it will ever warrant the two floors it has.

Londoners moving out would gravitate towards that way but now go towards Thame direction as that offers so much more in the way of shops.

Whiteaf is beautiful but dreadful in ice and snow. Are you looking at Monks Risborough C of E School? If so, you may wish to look at Lacey Green or Naphill as alternatives.

Hi Custard21 - have you moved to Whiteleaf/PR yet? If so, how are you finding it? I am also looking to move to the area from London and would be great to hear how you are getting on.

@Peanutbutterandjams
Ive only just seen this! I’ve close to this area.

Therecis going to be huge expansion of Princes Risborough. However many of the nearby villages will be untouched and quite a few are lovely. There are some great primary schools but ones in PR are a mixed bag. The county has a grammar system so PR School is a secondary snd isn’t always great. You could hedge your bets and try Thame or go to Wendover. Sadly HS2 construction is an issue in part of the town but it has better schools. You could also consider Chinnor.
