Where do we go from here?

Currently in Little Chalfont, Bucks, and planning to move in about a year, but not sure where. We could stay in /near our current area, but even healthy budgets don’t go far around here.

Trouble is, we’re not sure where to go. We’d like a nice community feel, safe, family friendly and good schools (we have a four and two year old). Ability to walk to some things and don’t have to rely on a car for everything. Some independent shops and cafes and good restaurants would be nice. We both like cycling. I love to garden. Country walks. I have mixed feelings about not being very close to London. We haven’t gone much (thanks to Covid), but equally haven’t missed it much, so maybe it’s time we stop paying a premium to be so close if we’re not taking advantage. I travel to the US frequently so I don’t want to be too far from a major airport. We both work from home, though my husband used to be London based, but things have mostly gone remote now.

If you were me, where would you go? Our budget is £1.3M ish and it is important to us to
have a characterful property. Also, for those who have moved primary schools, did your kids settle in to a new school ok?

Thank you for indulging my ramble. 🤪

Edenbridge is a lovely part of Kent . Good schools and easy links to Gatwick

Thank you. I neglected to mention that DH’s husband is in the Birmingham area, so we would want to be within reach of there.

DH's husband? Grin
Is there a backstory?

Bit over budget, but this has character and Castle Carey has the independent, local feel that you want.

There is a mainline train station and about 2.5hrs drive to see DH's husband. Grin

I haven’t even looked at the link because I’m laughing too hard at having written DH’s husband….

Family! I meant DH’s family! Oh dear.

That house is lovely! But they've obviously sold off all the land to maximise every profit, and it looks as though it's all been built on, so neighbours will be overlooking you at all times Sad
