Wobbling over relocating

My DH, DC (18m & almost 4) and I live in the midlands. All in all it's okay but the knife crime is rife and I personally have no family here for support. No coast. Very much suburban life. We're looking at relocating to Northumberland (Hexham way but one of the smaller villages) fir a better way of life for our children, more support for me. My family would be 30 mins away (dont want to live where they are). Jobs for my husband are fairly few and far between atm (new role in the NHS) but he would find something at some point and can come up at weekends for a while. I will probably have to take anything ao long as it paid the bills.

I'm absolutely terrified. We have to apply for schools by jan for our son and so want to move ready for then. Been looking for 2 months for a house to buy and either nothing available or suitable or we are beaten by cash buyers. Looking at renting an air bnb monthly as a short term solution until we are in the process of buying somewhere (then our sale can complete too).

But I'm worrying about this big move. I keep reminding myself of the alternative of living here but it's the unknown. I do know the area relatively well from growing up around there but it all feels really difficult right now as DH job isn't an easy move and sorting out childcare for our 2 boys is difficult! Does anyone have any words of wisdom?

We have done similar. City to coast. Rented because needed to get DC settled. Then we were cash buyers so could get a house. It will be over a years worth of rent down the drain BUT we LOVE living by the sea. Being able to walk, swim, surf, picnic by the sea at the drop of a hat has been awesome. It’s felt like a holiday when we are not at work. I’m not sure airbandb is stable enough for me. It’s been nerve wracking at times because we struggled to find somewhere to buy but no regrets. We focused on what matters to us most and the lifestyle we love and a bit of hardship in the here and now to get there in the future is worth it. We all made the move rather than one of us only being here at weekends.
