Leaving London - indecision!

We're flip flopping on leaving London. We live in a nice zone 3 area in a lovely terraced Victorian house. But it's a small house for two growing kids and two parents WFH at least part of the time, with a tiny garden. We keep eyeing up much bigger character places in villages in the Chilterns. But we'd be adding massively to the commute those days we do go into central London, and the ability to go to the theatre or a gallery on a whim - which we love.

Can anyone who made a similar move recommend going... or staying put?!

Hey,

We moved out of London 10 months ago. Both born and bred in North London, Islington and never really explored outside of London. Both work in the city ( Victoria, Holborn, picadilly circus).. We wanted to stay in Islington but likewise realised we would have to spend way over our budget for something small that does not grow with a family, so was basically priced out.

We have brought in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire, its just on the outskirts of london and was recommended to look here by London Estate agents as they are getting alot of london families selling their London property to move to Broxbourne or Hoddesdon, we checked it out and liked it! It is 35mins into Central London 4 stops into Enfield ( London) 1 stop to Cheshunt and from Cheshunt your on the london overground so that goes through stoke Newington. Trains during the week terminate at Liverpool Street and on Sunday terminate at Stratford Westfield, 25mins by train.

We are enjoying it out here so far and already know 4 more people from London who are buying out here.

Following! Having a similar dilemma but already live in zone 5 but wanting to go much further out, same commuting issues! We don’t actually need a bigger house but would love a bigger garden and villagey life but wondering if it’s worth the other downsides of commute etc!
