Hello,

I'd really appreciate to hear from mums who live in any of the above areas on your experience.

We're looking to move to these areas from SW London. We have a 3 year old and I'm due to have another in September. We're looking for somewhere we can do things as a family, can spend more time outdoors but still have all the necessary amenities.

I was wondering what day to day life is like in these areas? What things are there to do for children and adults? Really appreciate any comments/feedback! Thank you.

Don't know fetcham well but know the other all very well. Depends on what you want and need of course. Commute? Schools? Budget? What are your priorities?

Ashtead is the nicest of the three - nice upmarket village, but quite expensive. Train station, vg independent school from age 7, lovely parkland. Decent village centre. Still quite busy for a village.

Epsom is the busiest place. Lots going on there and great amenities. Plwnty of shops, clubs, etc. Easy commute to London (though to be honest it's on the same line as Ashtead and Epsom so there's only a few minutes difference, and easier to get a seat on train from the earlier stations if you need to do the London commute!). Some really good schools in Epsom- Wallace Fields probably the best state primary.

Leatherhead is okay. It has some nice parts and not so nice parts (like Epsom, although Epsom has more amenities to balance that out). Leatherhead is a small town with a high street that is basically a bunch of restaurants. Bigger and busier than Ashtead but far less so than Epsom.

They're all only minutes apart though. Also, none of them are what I would call 'rural living' at all, though might feel like it in comparison to London!

Of those only Fetcham and Bookham are "rural". Bocketts Farm, Box Hill, various NT properties and Surrey Hills are all on the doorstep.

How about Dorking?

Rural living? I wish.

Hi I’m thinking of moving to Leatherhead / Fetcham. Our pref was near Hampton Court but it’s too expensive. I have a 2 and 4 year old. I can’t find much info on these areas but any thoughts welcome. Thanks

I wouldn't call any of these areas rural. You might get more response in a different topic.
