Relocating from London to Dorset

Hi wise mums/dads

We are looking to start a new life in Dorset - we have 3 little ones all under the age of 5 so there is alot to consider,
I have family in Lulworth Cove which is beautiful but property is scarce.
Can anyone tell me some great villages for families around the Purbeck? Somewhere with good schools and community, and reasonable transport links?
We are looking for somewhere rural - away from any large towns but within driving distance to somewhere with amenities

so far I've considered the outskirts of dorchester, bridport, wareham

I would LOVE some advice on areas which are great for families whilst still being quiet and peaceful.
I am a londoner through and through so I am slightly worried about whether I will find like minded people, anyone found moving to the sticks a hard transition in that sense?
Thank you in advance!

Wimborne and the surrounding areas are nice? Is that too far away?

...I also moved from a big city to literally the middle of nowhere. You do have to change your mindset regarding shopping, cash and fuel - ie always have a bit of cash in your purse, never leave town without at least a quarter of a tank of fuel and always have bread and milk in the freezer, there's no 'nipping' to the shop! It took me 6 months to really settle but it's been many years now and I wouldn't change it at all! Good luck!!

I would look for somewhere on the main railway line, which, once you're west of Poole means Wareham, Wool, Crossways, Dorchester, Weymouth.

Purbeck and reasonable transport links aren't really two things I think of in conjunction...

I think a quick glance at the list of safest Tory seats should tell you London and Dorset have very different mindsets. Dorset is lovely though and there are still some progressives around.
