Shrewsbury- what’s it like to live there?

Hello,

Me and my partner are looking to relocate, but we cannot be too far from his work (based in Sandwell), so we were thinking about Shrewsbury. What’s it like there? Is it expensive? What are the people like- pretentious, down to earth or a little on the scary side? We have a son- are the primary schools any good?

Any information about the location would be appreciated. We would like to live in a nice area with access to good schools. We’re also happy with private education too.

We come from quite a safe area and would like to find that again in Shrewsbury.

Kind comments only please.

Thank you

Can't generalise about the population of a whole large town.

Watch for flooding. Threat of a new bypass (north west relief road) which will worsen traffic and spray noise about. Seriously bad and corrupt council. Nice place otherwise.

Oh, and not rural!

It's a lovely place and people are friendly, and there are some good schools there. Good pubs. And yes, flooding around the English and Welsh bridges particularly. I left there as there wasn't much work around at the time. There's no maternity unit at the local hospital now, that's been moved over to Telford.
