Bedfordshire/Hertfordshire

Hi All!
Considering moving to Beds/Herts/Bucks.
Lots of great villages but worried I'd be isolated as I don't drive due to medical conditions.
Can anyone recommend any villages with a good primary school for DS, but with good bus/train connections to Luton/Bedford/other towns so I can get a job?
Is this possible?

Have a look at Ampthill - pretty small market town, good schools (bear in mind much of Bedfordshire still has a three-tier school system). Direct buses to Bedford and Luton from what I remember - next door Flitwick (not as pretty) is on the trainline.
