Anybody live in Alnwick, Northumberland?

We are looking at relocating up to Northumberland from Leeds. We have 2 primary aged children, one will be going to high school in 2 years, so need to take their needs into consideration, especially when they hit teenage years!

We just love the countryside/sea, plus we have family in Newcastle. We love where we live but just feel ready for a change in lifestyle. What is Alnwick like for families? Are there other areas to consider in Northumberland? Any to avoid?!

Thanks for your help 😊xx

I live in Tyne and Wear and know Alnwick as a tourist. It appears to be a nice place.
Morpeth is a popular town and has good schools from what I've heard.

I also know it as a tourist, and Rothbury. Love them both..and Alnmouth and would move there in a heartbeat if we didn't have all family locally and it would mean leaving them. I love it up around there...ticks all the boxes for me...countryside, friendly people (we stay in Rothbury and love it) scenery, coast, hills, beaches.....it's fab (but don't tell everyone...I like it cos it's empty! Un
like Cornwall etc!)

We live in Morpeth and love it. Easy access to Newcastle/countryside/coast. Has a train station which is on the east coast mainline. Nice little town centre with a reasonable number of shops. Lovely park and surrounding woods for walks.

DC aren't school age yet. There's a 3 tier school system here. As far as I'm aware, all the primary schools have very good reputations, as does the upper.

Alnwick is nice but further from Newcastle and there isn't a train station in Alnwick itself but is in nearby Alnmouth.
