Our neighbours acquired a cockerel about 6 months ago. Initially his lack of time keeping was amusing - crowing at all times, night & day. Now that it is summer it has become a grating annoyance - primarily as we can't sleep with the bedroom windows open due to him waking us up.

The neighbours are lovely people and whilst we all tend to keep to ourselves I really don't want to cause any friction by complaining about the bird. Would it be unreasonable to ask if they could possibly move the chickens to the rear of their property which may lessen the noise for us?

I know the countryside is anything but quiet but this is starting to make me unhappy - ridiculous I know!

What would you do?

I think asking them to move the bird is a reasonable suggestion since you have a civil relationship. Hopefully they'll realise how much it's affecting you and move it.
