Hello, we are considering putting an offer in on a house in Kilburn, Derbyshire. We are relocating from London which is obviously a massive change, but my husband grew up in a village and having originally been looking to move around derby city, we have decided a village is perhaps more suitable for us at this particular time of our lives. We have 3 and 1 year old boys. Can anyone provide any useful info about the area? Schools, safety, social, nearby areas - any useful info will be very welcome! Tia

Don’t know much about Kilburn but if you’re heading to derby I’d be looking at Darley Abbey in the City limits but feels it’s own world or Duffiled a bit further out.

I agree with the previous poster - my db lives in Darley Abbey and it's the best of both worlds.

There are some beautiful villages in the south of the county too. Not too familiar with Kilburn but I'll speak for Derbyshire in general - we've got a low cost of living, gorgeous scenery especially with the Peak District on our doorstep, people are friendly and down to earth, and our pubs are bloody brilliant. Safe, good transport links, not too far from anywhere. You could do a lot worse.
