Toads keep dying in our pond

Does anyone have advice? I built a ramp as initially thought they were drowning (5 now in 3 days ) but this morning found the 5th one and so they are still dying. It had 2 live ones clinging to it.

Could they be dying of exhaustion as google suggests this can be a cause in breeding season but 5 seems so many in such a short time . I love toads and tempted to buy a proper toad ramp in case mine is too flimsy but they are £20+.

Crows used to pick our out and disembowel them, when we first moved into the house. The previous owners rarely went into the garden, but since we have used the garden this has stopped.

Could be some sort of epidemic I suppose? I guess toads can transmit illness to one another? Poor things.
